Car

I bought a Honda accord new back in nov 2021. It was not my first choice, but back then it didn’t really matter what I wanted. There was such a shortage of everything that the dealers would email me saying they had several cars coming in and ask if I wanted one. It was totally a sellers’ market except they have no inventory. Compounding that, I had no American drivers license so Carmax wouldn’t sell me a car.

Accords are reliable, low cost to maintain and relatively not ugly. so I thought I made a good choice. But I’ve come to realize that I didn’t. Don’t get me wrong, the car is those things. But those aren’t the things I really cared about. but I guess I had to have owned a car to realize what I wanted a car. I could say the same about buying a house. Or for that matter, running a lab at a university.

The most sensible thing may not be the best choice. The notion of mediocrity is not that sexy.
