Acrimonious attack on other’s work

This is an excerpt from a review article I read. This article was published in a prestigious journal by an expert of the field. Yet it degenerated into simple name-calling.

I experienced first-hand a very harsh review of a paper I submitted. It is not a rejection perhaps out of pity for me?
